The library was established in 1942 and it has been serving the community on the corner of 13th and Kalmia Street since 1969.

Designated a small rural library, funding has always been tight. Although it has been a rewarding challenge to provide more with less, this would not be possible without the Friends of the Library and our library-loving volunteers!

Current Library Services include, but are not limited to, the following:

To apply for a library card you must have current photo ID, proof of Sweet Home residency and valid phone number to verify information.

The card is good for one year from date of application.

Out-of-City fees are $35 per year. 

Oregon Library Passport Program
Sweet Home Public Library is participating in the OREGON LIBRARIES PASSPORT PROGRAM.  The Oregon Library Passport Program recognizes that library service ought to mirror the way Oregonians live, work, shop, and play, and reduce barriers to library service. The underlying premise of the Passport Program is that cardholders of legally-established public libraries ought to be able to use other legally-established public libraries.
