2021 Streetscape Plan

Aerial View of Sweet Home Downtown Map

As of April 26th, the feedback for this round drafts is closed. Watch for more details to come!

The streetscape is everything located within the public right-of-way: streets, sidewalks, trees and landscaping, streetlights, signs, public artwork, plazas, etc. The City believes that by doing its part to improve the downtown streetscape, private business activity will follow, increasing activity in the downtown, and making it a more pleasant place to visit. We invite all residents, business owners, and property owners to participate!

A Community Input Open House was held on March 25th. The video is HERE.

Share your comments or thoughts on the Festival Street Concept - 13th Ave

13th Avenue has been discussed as a possible “Festival Street”. This would be a street in the core of downtown that could be closed to traffic occasionally to allow festivals and block parties. Currently, the road is much broader than it needs to be, and the sidewalks are very narrow. An opportunity here is to reduce the street and add wider sidewalks. This update would allow amenities such as street trees, landscaping, and benches. Please provide feedback on this idea.

Share your comments or thoughts on the Long Street Opportunities.Engineer plans of widen sidewalks

Similar to 13th Avenue, Long Street has a wider roadway than is needed. The opportunity is to reduce the vehicular lane width, allowing wider sidewalks with trees and pedestrian amenities. Bulb-outs at the corners are also an opportunity that would result in safer pedestrian crossings while allowing amenities such as landscaping, seating, and art. Please provide feedback on these opportunities.

Choose your favorite and leave comments on Lighting Options.pictures of outdoor lights

Pedestrian lighting is a significant need downtown for safety and ambiance. Three “styles” of lights are under consideration. Option 1 is a traditional “acorn” lighting style that reflects the early history of Sweet Home. Option 2 is “timber themed” and demonstrates the logging/timber culture of Sweet Home. Options 3 is a more modern style that is proposed for Sankey Park. Please provide feedback and preferences

Share your comments or thoughts on the Bulb-Out Concept.art, seating

There are a few existing bulb-outs on Main Street, but they lack character. This bulb-out shown is in front of the Steelhead Fitness at 13th and Main. Offered is an opportunity to enhance this as a vibrant pedestrian space. This area could include seating, art, and landscaping. These opportunities could also be applied to other locations. Please provide your feedback on this concept.
