Volunteering
Opportunities Are Always Available
The library is a non-profit organization and we could not get along without volunteers.
We accept volunteers from teens to retirees! Typically our volunteers pitch in once a week or two-three times a month, we can work with your schedule, as long as it is within our open hours!
Please read the City's Volunteer Policy, then give us a call at 541-367-5007 or visit us and we can put you to work!
In 2023 volunteers donated over 670 hours of work!
Volunteers are currently doing the following tasks:
Book covering,
Material processing,
Shelving books and movies,
Program preparation,
Program assistance,
Seed sorting
And more!
If you are a teen that needs to acquire Community Service hours, please give us a call or stop in to talk to us about our limited opportunities. We typically have three hour projects that can satisfy this requirement. We cannot oversee community hours for adults.
Front Window Displays
Are you interested in decorating our front window to highlight your local non-profit? The materials in the display must be informational in nature, not include any religious symbols (examples are found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religious_symbol ), and not include any calls for monetary donations. Calls for material donations are fine. Preference will be given to displays for Library Programs, the Sweet Home Friends of the Library, Sweet Home School District, and for City of Sweet Home events. Other applications will be approved on a first come, first served basis. Library staff retains the right to alter the display if it does not conform to standards.
If you are interested, please email shpl@sweethomeor.gov with the name of your non-profit, what month you would like to sign up for, and what you will be displaying.
